This 7 year-old girl’s mother is a patient here and like most of our patients after getting great results from her care decided to bring her daughter in because she suffered from frequent pain in her legs. In her consultation her mother tells me, “She complains about sharp pains in her legs mostly at night for the last two years that are so sever that she wakes up in the middle of the night screaming and crying from the pain. Her pediatrician said it’s just ‘growing pains’ and they’ll go away when she eventually out grows them and to just give her Tylenol or Advil to relieve the pain, which after trying barely takes the edge off.” Her mother also mentions, “That she also frequently still wets her bed.”
Upon examining her spine I felt some slight tenderness, muscle tension, swelling, and joint fixations in the middle and lower back and then took X-rays of her back to see what exactly was going on and eliminate any guess work.
Which you can see the view of her back from the front below:
Which shows she had a 19 degree juvenile scoliosis which was putting an abnormal amount of pressure and stress on the nerves that are going into her legs and bladder. Once I found out exactly what was causing the problem and exactly what kind of condition her spine was in, and after performing a few necessary orthopedic and neurological tests (to rule anything else out), I performed a successful test adjustment (to find out if we could even correct what was causing the problem) and was confident we could help her and put her on a treatment plan which included a set schedule of chiropractic adjustments. After treating her 2 times a week for 8 weeks we stopped and took another look and some progress films to see what if anything had changed. Which you can see below to the right next to her initial film for comparison.
As you can see her scoliosis came down to 6 degrees a 68% improvement! And her mother reported that she’s having only a few and much less severe pains in her legs now and has been having much less ‘accidents’.
We continued her treatment as planned once a week for 8 more weeks and re-examined her.
At which point her mother reported she was having to more pains in her legs and has not had an ‘accident’ in over 5 weeks now.
We then gave her a few specific stretches and exercises to do at home for her scoliosis which you can see HERE and continued to see her as planned once every other week for 8 more weeks to keep her spine in alignment while she stabilized it.
Following those 8 weeks she was re-examined and we took more x-rays to see if we accomplished what we need to. Which you can see below to the right next to her initial one again for a comparison.
Her scoliosis came down to 3 degrees a 84% improvement. She has not had any pains in her legs and hasn’t had any ‘accidents’ in over 3 months!
